Ginger Braised Red Cabbage
By far, one of the simplest dishes I make yet still impressive, delicious, and satisfying.
RECIPE: Ginger Braised Cabbage
Ingredients:
1 tsp sesame oil (or cooking oil)
1" chunk fresh ginger, minced
1/2 head of red cabbage, sliced thinly
1 tbsp rice wine vinegar (or white wine vinegar)
water
Method:
> in a skillet over medium heat, sauté the ginger in the sesame oil
> when the ginger starts browning, add the cabbage, vinegar, and about 1/2 a cup of water
> cover with a lid and let simmer for 5-10 minutes or until the cabbage is tender
Serve with broiled fish and rice. Garnish with basil and sesame seeds. I have also used 3 cloves of garlic in place of the ginger or with the ginger with raging success.
