Harley's Salad Dressing
Well, the kids kitchen is not yet gone, but Harley has entered the kitchen.
The other day, he asked if he could make (and eat) a salad for a snack. Could he make both the salad AND the dressing?
His creation was quite good with interesting flavour combinations I would never have chosen, but they all work really nicely together.
RECIPE: Harley's Chili Cloves Salad Dressing
Serves 2
Ingredients:
> salad
1 apple, sliced or cubed
1 tomato, diced
salad greens
> dressing
1 tbsp mayo
2 tsp sweet chili sauce
1/2 tsp garlic
pinch of ground cloves
1/8 tsp chili flakes
pinch of cayenne pepper
water to thin the dressing (2-3 tsp)
Method:
> get the greens, apples, and tomatoes chopped and split between the two bowls
> mix together dressing ingredients
> divide between the two salads
It was AMAZING!! I was actually quite surprised at the combinations.
He tasted it when he thought it was done and realized it needed just a pinch of cayenne (that red one there - no, THAT one!). The fact that he knew the dressing needed a little something more and how it would alter the flavour was rather impressive.
He polished off his bowl shortly after I took this photo.
